Breaking Ground on a New Rundle Academy Building
On Tuesday, April 16, we took a giant leap forward as a Rundle community and broke ground on a new Rundle Academy building.
This historic moment in our school’s history is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about ensuring we remain a place where students who learn differently are given every opportunity to flourish. As each student finds their place and thrives, our entire community is strengthened.
“This moment—this groundbreaking—is more than the start of a construction project. It’s the start of a transformation. One that doesn’t just reshape a building, but reaffirms a belief that has always been at the core of Rundle Academy: that every student has potential; that every learner deserves a place where they can be seen, heard, and supported; and that when a community believes in something deeply enough, there’s nothing we can’t build together,” said Head of School Dr. Jason Rogers during the event.
We are thrilled to share that we have raised $8.1 million of our $12-million goal toward the first phase of the new education wing, allowing us to ceremoniously break ground, and begin construction on the building.
In Phase 1 of the build, we are adding 30+ classrooms, and in Phase 2 of the build, we are adding science labs, a gymnasium, learning commons, food services, and countless other auxiliary spaces.
In the coming years, we will be able to support an additional 175 students with learning disabilities from the Calgary area by providing them a well-supported, personalized education that will help them thrive.
Thank you to all who attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony; families, students, alumni, supporters and partners – you not only showed up, you also demonstrated the strength of our community when we come together in support of the students who mean so much to us.
Whether through your generous donations, sharing your story, or connecting others to this project – your continued support remains vital. We have achieved so much, but we still have work to do. Let’s keep moving forward – together!
