A Landmark Gift for Rundle Academy Students
A remarkable act of generosity is shaping the future of Rundle Academy. An anonymous parent donor has stepped forward with a $1 million gift to the Building Futures campaign, bringing us closer to realizing a new, purpose-built home for students with learning disabilities.
“Our family has been able to see firsthand the incredible impact of the Academy education on our children. We’re honoured to support its growth and know it will make a lasting difference for generations to come," says the anonymous parent.
Their commitment underscores the power of philanthropy in transforming education and ensuring that more students have access to the life-changing support that Rundle Academy provides.
“This campaign is about more than just bricks and mortar—it’s about creating a conduit for more students to reach their full potential,” says Dr. Jason Rogers, Head of School. “Every time we get to call a family and tell them their child has been accepted, it’s a moment of joy for everyone. But the hardest conversations are the ones where we have to share with a family that we don’t have space for their child. This gift is a catalyst, moving us closer to a future where more students can find a place to thrive.”
It was this reality that inspired the anonymous parent to give back to Rundle.
“My child was initially waitlisted because there wasn’t space. We know exactly what that feels like,” says the anonymous parent. "The opportunity to help see more families welcomed into this special place is near and dear to our hearts.”
At Rundle, we see the potential in every student. That unwavering commitment to nurturing future leaders is what fuels this campaign to reimagine Rundle Academy’s campus. Expanding through modern, intentionally designed spaces that meet our students’ unique needs will allow us to continue providing the innovative, caring, and creative program we are known for.
The new science lab in the new Academic wing will revolutionize the learning experience. With flexible furniture, state-of-the-art equipment, and advanced tools, students will engage in hands-on experiments like never before. Adaptable seating promotes comfort and focus, while cutting-edge resources inspire curiosity and collaboration. This new science lab and other new spaces within the new Academic wing will nurture a love for science and empower the next generation of innovators.
"We, as teachers, are deeply grateful to our anonymous donor for believing in the power of our educators and students, helping us provide exceptional learning opportunities for students with learning disabilities."
With Calgary’s growing need for specialized education, the demand for spaces at Rundle Academy continues to rise. Each year, we face a long waitlist—a testament to the Academy’s reputation for excellence and the pressing need for more options for students with learning disabilities. The new campus will allow us to welcome 180 additional students, ensuring they receive the small class sizes, individualized learning strategies, and supportive environment that set Rundle apart.
The vision for this new home is bold. We are building with the future in mind, ensuring that every detail is thoughtfully engineered with our students and teachers at the forefront. The design will maintain Rundle Academy’s warm, welcoming spirit while introducing purpose-built learning spaces and new amenities that enhance student experiences. Quiet nooks will provide areas for reflection, technology-rich spaces will support innovative learning, and a modern gymnasium and art room will inspire wellness and creativity.
This extraordinary $1-million donation is not just a contribution—it is a demonstration of this donor's belief in Rundle Academy to change lives and build futures. It is a powerful reminder that our community can come together to build something greater than ourselves. To our anonymous donor, we extend our deepest gratitude.
As we move forward, we invite our community to be part of this movement. Every gift, no matter the size, helps turn this vision into reality. Together, we can build a future where more students have the space and support they need to thrive.
